Theobald Sabi currently serves as the Managing Director of the National Bank Commerce (NBC), Tanzania's longest-serving Bank, a role he has held since 2018. ,
Before assuming this position, Sabi excelled as the Bank's Director of Corporate and Investment Banking and had a successful tenure at Standard Chartered Bank (T).
In addition to his role at the National Bank of Commerce, Sabi also serves as the Chairman of the Tanzania Bankers Association (TBA), a professional body representing banks and financial institutions in Tanzania, and the Tanzania Mortgage Refinance Company Ltd (TMRC), a financial institution dedicated to advancing the mortgage market in Tanzania.
Sabi is also the standing Chairman of the Tanzania Sisal Board, a regulatory body under the President of Tanzania, responsible for overseeing and promoting the Tanzania Sisal industry.
He also chairs a special committee under the Ministry of Sports and Culture tasked with strategic fundraising campaigns and garnering public support for Tanzania's national sports teams.
Beyond his financial roles, Sabi sits on various national boards, including the Bank of Tanzania Training Academy, the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), the Tanzania National Business Council, and the Tanzania End Malaria Committee.
Sabi holds a BSc (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam and is also a Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants (FCCA).
